Funeral services for Marie Powell were held Thursday, January 21st the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, Rev. John Lewing officiated. Burial followed at the Florien Cemetery in Florien.
Marie was the daughter of Luther and Mary Lou Coleman Foster, she was born in Morton, MS October 3, 1927 and passed away January 16, 2016 in Pitkin.
Marie retired from Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital after 25 years of work in nursing. She enjoyed hunting and fishing and anything outdoors and truly loved raising her chickens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Powell; son LeRoy “June Bug” Nugent Jr and his wife Debra; daughter, Pat Seay; daughter, Jan and her husband Mike Perkins; son in law Thomas Horton, Jr; grandchildren, Cindy Dickey and Amanda Nugent and Great grandchild, Kylar Hale
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; two daughters and one son-in-law; 23 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
