Martin John Fields, 85, of Richmond, known to his family as “Papa”, passed away, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the V. A. Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born December 12, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA, to Martin Joseph and Julia Marie (Benitz) Fields, both of whom preceded him in death. Martin was also preceded in death by his wife, Julia “Connie” (Kaneko) Fields. He was a retired Army Sergeant First Class, a member of the American Legion, and of St. Mark Catholic Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Ann Lee (F. Scott) of Richmond; one son, Martin J. Fields III (Louise) of Lexington; one sister, Anna Marie Pisa; grandchildren, James Martin Lee, Robert Everett Lee, Brian Scott Lee, Courtney Brooke Fields, Trevor Martin Fields; great grandchildren, Lucas Scott Lee and Nathaniel Edward Lee.
Services will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, January 29, 2016 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, in Nicholasville, KY with military honors observed. Visitation will be from 10 AM until service time at the funeral home.
