Bobby Lee Banks, 87, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cox Funeral Home with Richard Higley officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.

Bobby was born June 21, 1928, in Gainesville to Robert and Oma Banks. He enlisted in the Army in 1951, where he proudly served as military police until his honorable discharge in 1956. He married Gloria Hedrick Williams on Feb. 1, 1989. Bobby worked for Amarillo Fire Department for more than 31 years, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed spending time with family traveling in his motorhome as he was able. He was a devoted member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church with his wife, Gloria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jo; and his best girl, “Libby.”

Survivors include his wife, Gloria “Glo” Banks of Amarillo; a daughter, Evonne House of Amarillo; a stepson, Randy Williams and Duston Logan of Dallas; two grandsons, Ethan House and wife Mercede and Spencer House, all of Amarillo; a great-grandson, Zach House of Amarillo; a niece, Rhonda Coker of Llano; and a nephew, Melvin “Bubba” Reid Jr.

The family suggests memorials be to Don and Sybill Harrington Cancer foundation to benefit the patients of BSA Hospice in memory of Bobby Banks, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.

Visitations will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
