Booker, Richard Marshall, born near Hampton, Virginia, Feb 3, 1837. Attended J. B. Cary's Military Academy and Wm. & Mary College. Farmer. Pvt. Co. D, 1st (Ramsey's) Georgia, March 1861. Lt. of Inf., May 24, 1861, to report to Magruder. Reported to J. H Winder, July 1861, to help establish Richmond prison system. Detailed to QM Dept., Feb 1, 1862. Staff of McLaws around Yorktown. Appointed CAPT., July 17, 1862. Adjt. at Ft. Caswell, North Carolina, Dec. 17, 1863. Hampton oysterman and brick manufacturer post war. A director of the Richmond Soldiers Home. Died Feb. 1898, buried in St. John's Cemetery, Hampton.

He attended J.B. Cary's Military Academy and William and Mary College. He was a farmer. He was a Lt. of Inf. and helped establish Richmond's prison system. After the war he was an oysterman and brick manufacturer. He was a director of the Richmond Soldier's home.
