LAIRD, Michael Alan II Mike passed away suddenly from a heart attack, at his home in Duluth, MN on November 19, 2014 at the age of 47. Born March 29, 1967 in Pomona, CA, Mike moved to Healdsburg, CA at the age of seven where he enjoyed swimming in the Russian River, hiking in the redwoods, and spending timest Book at the ocean. In his early 20's Mike worked briefly at the Grand Canyon, then hitched a ride to Minnesota, "The Land of 10,000 Lakes". He settled in enjoying fishing year round, especially ice fishing. He attended Healdsburg High School and later completed a certificate program from Diesel Truck Driver Training School, Inc. in Wisconsin. Mike mostly worked as a trucker & bus driver, hauling everything from corn, turkeys, nuclear waste, to kindergartners! While health issues kept Mike from working recently, he was very proud of getting clean and sober, and helping others in their journey. Preceded in death by his birth mother, Toni Lee Chamberlin, Mike is survived by his parents Michael and Beverlee Laird, sister Charlene (Lee) Plato, brother Sam Robinson, nephew Shane Plato, ex-wife Sandy Laird, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends. A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at the Villa Chanticleer Annex, 900 Chanticleer Way, Healdsburg on Sunday, December 21st from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Twin Ports Area Intergroup, 331 E. 1st St., Duluth, MN 55805.
