Edra L. “Edie” Newman, a longtime Raymond resident died Monday, December 2, 2013 in Whitehall, Montana where she had resided the last two years; she was 95. Edie was born December 10, 1917 in Melrose, Idaho to Charles and Ivy (Dykes) Watson.

She was a 1938 Pullman High School Graduate. Edie married Lawrence M. “Speck” October 19, 1942 in Tacoma. Together they had a dairy farm near Gig Harbor from 1942 until moving to Raymond in 1968 and starting up the family dairy farm. Edie loved her life on the farm. Her kids and grandkids will tell you there was only one right way to care for the calves. Her home was open to everyone, anytime. She was a selfless and cheery woman who will be greatly missed.

Edie is survived by three sons, Ned and Pat of Raymond, and Joe Newman of Belfair; a daughter Sue Honan of Gig Harbor, three sisters Ellen Kromm of Colfax, Vickie Due of Toledo and Vera Jensen of Whitehall, Montana; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters Daisy Angcao and Jessie Sandvig, a grandson Brock Newman and her husband, Speck.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond with interment to follow at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
