Irene E. May, 85, passed away February 8, 2007, at the Hospice Care Center due to complications from a stroke.
Born September 21, 1921 in East Orwell, Ohio, Irene was a graduate of Suffield High School and worked in the legal department of B.F. Goodrich. In addition, she and her husband were the owner/operators of the family business, Frank May Garage, until retiring together in 1981. Irene was a member of the Hungarian American Club, the South Akron K of C 3410, a Life Member of the Firestone V.F.W., the AARP group of Portage Lakes 2213, a Life Member of the Akron Turner Club, the Orioles Auxiliary, the Sons of Herman, the Manchester Women's Club, the Hungarian American Cultura Club, the Hungarian American Ladies Auxiliary, the Mogadore Moose 852 and the Barberton Civitan Club. She loved life, music, polkas and dancing. Her favorite days were spent with her family, and also relaxing and enjoying the sunshine while cruising with her buddies every Wednesday around Portage Lakes.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, John Fulop and Agnes Schutzbach; brother, John Fulop; her loving husband and best friend of 63 years, Francis May who died on December 25, 2006.
