"First Lieutenant Fyffe [husband of Mrs. Bonnie Lee Fyffe], a World War II veteran, was a B-29A Superfortress bomber Navigator assigned to the 343rd Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), 98th Bombardment Wing, U.S. Air Force deployed to Yokota Air Base, Japan. On 24 October 1951, while in formation for a bombing run on a railroad bridge near Sunchon, North Korea, the aircraft (tail #44-61932; nicknamed "Our Gal.") was attacked by 40 to 70 MiGs and damaged. The crew bailed out over Wonsan Harbor near Triyom-do, North Korea. His remains were not recovered."--Contributor: SBR (49039178)
Besides a stone in his memory in the Fyffe family section of Greenwood Cemetery in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas he is also memorialized on the Honolulu Memorial on the Tablets of the Missing (167138989) and the National Korean War Veterans Memorial (118652632).
