Peter was born July 11, 1902 in Tromsø, Norway, the third oldest in a family of five, born to Edvard and Ragnhild Ericksen. Peter was always a devoted son and family man, caring for his parents, brother, sisters, wife and children throughout his youth and adult life.

In 1926, he married Winona Young and they raised three children in the family home Pete built himself at 1923 Santa Clara Street in Vallejo next door to Winona's mother, then a widow.

Pete was a very loving, devoted husband and father and spent most of his leisure time in family-related activities. Pete was always helping people make things better and he gave of his talents and countless hours serving his fellow man.

He was President and a Charter Member of Sons of Norway Victory Lodge 43 in Vallejo and was active with the lodge throughout his life.

As the family was growing up, Pete became very involved in Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls' activities. He was Camp Committee Chairman for the Gold Hollow Camp Fire Girls Camp in Nevada City, working with his many Norwegian friends and families from Vallejo, keeping the camp in good repair.

Pete was a scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troup 11 for 12 years and had a major character building influence in the lives of the numerous teenagers who knew him during the late 40's and early 50's. His work with the Boy Scouts earned him the coveted Silver Beaver Award and for his faithful service to the Vallejo Camp Fire Girls organization, he was recognized by receiving the Luther Gulick Award.

Pete was in the furniture business with Bedford's Furniture in Vallejo most of his life and was a partner with his brother-in-law, Gilbert Bedford, for a period in that business.

He retired from the furniture business when he was 62. Pete and Nona moved from Vallejo to Pollock Pines where Pete built their retirement home.

He was a master craftsman and enjoyed building and creating things from wood. Many family keepsakes were made in his workshop at Christmastime throughout his life.

He also loved music and played the Spanish guitar with the family. All family members played together for years in the evenings at home and as an ensemble in musical recitals. He was also an ardent dancer and loved to do the Schottis at lodge functions.

Pete became a citizen when he reached adulthood and was a dedicated American, proud of his family, his country and his Norwegian heritage.

He was honest, sincere, hard-working and an inspiration to all who knew him. Pete had a keen mind, a sharp wit and an enthusiastic spirit.

We will remember him forever and today we celebrate his life.
