A graveside memorial service will be held for Clarence A. Gaither at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016. Clarence passed away on Sept. 29, 2015, at his nursing home residence in Lockhart, Texas. His ashes will be laid to rest during the memorial which will be held in Memorial Park at Plainview Cemetery.

Clarence was born Jan. 10, 1916. He graduated from Plainview High School and lived in the Plainview area most of his life, farming in various locations. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Clarence married Doris Baxter on Nov 20, 1949. Together they managed farms around the Plainview area. In 1973, Clarence retired from farming and together they opened Nature's Way Health Foods store. Both were active members at First Baptist Church, Halfway, then at College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview. Doris preceded Clarence in death in Jan. 17, 1991. Clarence is survived by three sons, Randy of Meridian, Miss., Mark of Lockhart, Texas, and Trent of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Lyn Fair of Carrollton, Texas; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
