Emma Martha, age 95, died peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, April 22, 2011. She was the devoted wife of the late Walter Lewis Griffith. Born on September 22, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Litke. She was a long time resident of Stratford and spent the past several years with the loving care of her family in Shelton. She was an elevator operator for The American Chain and Cable Company. She also held the position of Secretary for The Griffith Company in Bridgeport. She was predeceased by a brother, William Litke; and two sisters, Matilda Bortnick and Olga Florian, all from Stratford. She is survived by her two children, daughter Ginger Prentice and husband Nelson Prentice of Ocala, FL and son Gary Griffith and wife Ellen Griffith, of Shelton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kevin and wife Barbara Prentice of Hamden, Cindy and husband Gary Malse of Milford, Bonnie and husband Daniel Bouffard of Ocklawaha, FL, Sherry and husband Robert O'Donnell of Shelton, Michelle and husband Glen Lichtenberger of Summerville, SC, Alana Zartolas of Stratford and Bradley, Emily and Matthew Griffith of Shelton. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, Kyle, Scott and Holly Prentice of Hamden, Christopher Malse of Milford, Nicholas and Allyssa Bouffard of FL, Ashley and Alexandra O'Donnell of Shelton, Cory, Shauna and Amber Lichtenberger of SC and Elliana Zartolas of Stratford. Emma adored her children and time spent with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and her country music. She had the love of all that knew her. She will be missed by all that were blessed to have known her. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
