Mrs. Flossie Hadella Benton Carter, 84, of Little Mountain Road, Jonesville, passed away Monday, May 30, 2006, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born April 18, 1922, in Yadkin County to the late Homer and Retta Hanes Benton. Mrs. Carter was a loving mother, as shown when she helped to lead her son to the Lord; a caring friend and neighbor to everyone; a homemaker; and was retired from Elkin Furniture with several years of service. She was also a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Everette J. Carter, on July 23, 2005; and a brother, Gaither Benton. Surviving are her son, Bruce (Phyllis) Carter of Jonesville; her brother, Gurney Andrew Benton of Jonesville; and a brother-in-law, David Carter. Her funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 2, at Fall Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
