Eleanor Alexander Jones, 87, of Jonesboro and Shreveport, passedaway quietly attended by her family on January 6, 2016. She was born in Jonesboro to Walter Calvin Alexander, Sr., and Vera Greer Alexander, both deceased. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Walter C. Jr., Lamar, and Gus Alexander and son-in-law James Robert Ferriss.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, E. Dewitt Jones; and children, Elwin D. Jones, Jr. (Pat Aulds), Rosalyn J. Ferriss, and Janet J. Mott (Michael); nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and sister, Evelyn Alexander Tarver.

A graduate of Louisiana Tech University, Eleanor let her light shine in all our lives as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her artistic abilities were evident in all she touched and enjoed by all who knew her. She loved to travel with Dewitt and would always come home with a rock(s) for her flower gardens.

She was a lifelong member of the Jonesboro First United Methodist Church and amember of the Friendly Knights Sunday School Class. Her participation in the restoration project of the handmade Christmas ornaments, following a church fire, was very special to her.

Services were held at Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro on January 9, 2016 with interment in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eleanors's grandchildren: Trey Jones, Stuart Ferriss, Will Jones, Janelle Mott Delaney, Paige Ferriss Humphrey, Joel Jones, Clarke Ferriss, Sarah Jones and Emily Jones.

The family wished to thank their friends at the church for providing a wonderful meal and a special thank you to Taymond Jeffress and Reverend Richard Hooton.
