Gene Morris, 81, of Abilene, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 13, 2016.

Gene was born September 10, 1934 in Quanah, TX to W.C. and Florence Morris.
He married the love of his life, Dorene Hunt, on July 4, 1954 in Chillicothe, TX.
Gene worked for 32 years for Coca Cola in Abilene. He first started out as a routeman and moved up to management. Gene was a singer and songwriter and had a lifelong passion for music. Gene and Dorene are members of the First Baptist Church of Abilene.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorene; one son, David Gene Morris and wife Lisa; and one daughter, Kathi Ater and husband Bill; grandchildren, Darbi Bratton and husband Zac, Lindi Bruno and husband Ryan, Mark Ater and wife Elisha, Brett Ater and wife Amy, and Joshua Ater. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Drew, Tatum, Lilli, Timothy, Braylin, Hudson, Josiah, Ezra and Aviel.

Gene was the 11th child of 12 children and is still survived by one brother, Orvil and wife Sheri of North Richland Hills, TX.
