Barbara Jean Goodman Pollack, 66, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011, at her home with her loving husband, John, by her side. Service: We will honor Barbara's life in service: 10 a.m. Friday in Guardian Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seasons Hospice Foundation Fund, 5237 N. Riverside Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76137. Barbara was born Nov. 10, 1944, in Fort Worth, daughter of Clovis Doyle Goodman and Ludie Velma Smith Goodman. She was raised in Maypearl and graduated from Maypearl High School in 1963. Barbara enjoyed working and while at her position as an executive assistant with Recognition Equipment Inc., she met her husband of 26 years, John Joseph Pollard Jr. After many years with the company, she retired in 1993 and enjoyed traveling with John. She was active in the communities in which she lived, involved in Meals on Wheels and worked in the kitchen at a senior citizen center. Her warm, loving spirit and ability to make a friend on every corner made her instrumental in improving the closeness of community in the subdivision where she lived. Barbara loved to experience diverse cultures. She lived in and/or visited Saudi Arabia, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Oregon, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and her home state of Texas. Barbara enjoyed working with crafts, painting, travel to and visits from her five grandchildren, walks with her beloved Shih Tzu, Lil Miss Muffin, and visiting with her many friends, neighbors, cousins, and other family members. She brought much joy and love to all she met and will be sorely missed by all of the hearts she touched. Survivors: Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, John; son, Christopher D. Stevens (Tammy); daughters, Donna L. Dodd (Mike) and Carolyn K. Downing; brother, Clifford D. Goodman; five grandchildren; one nephew; many cousins and other family; and neighbors and friends who will remember her with love.
