Philip Ray Cloud was born in Konawa, Oklahoma on June 7, 1929 and passed away January 14, 2016 after a brief illness. He was 86 years old. He was the son of Ralph and Mable Strand Cloud. Philip was raised in the Russell Station Community. Philip was a 1947 graduate of Lynchburg High School. Philip enlisted in the United States Navy in July of 1947 and served as a Radioman until his discharge in July of 1950. Philip married Carrie Kathaleen Henderson on October 7, 1961. Philip retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in 1976. Philip and his family spent several years in Arizona before returning to Lynchburg. Philip worked for Union Township and was a bus driver for Lynchburg Schools. Philip loved to fly. He had rebuilt several biplanes and flew them around Highland County. Philip was a member of the Allensburg Church of Christ for the last 33 years. Philip loved the Lord above all. Philip loved is family deeply.
He is survived by two daughters, Beth Ann (Danny) Brooks of Lynchburg, Amy Cloud of Lebanon, three grandchildren, Tiffany Norris, Carrie Lynnette (Nick) Koso of Falls City, Nebraska and Tyler (Chelsey) Cloud of Lynchburg, one very special great-granddaughter, Brianna Wilson of Lynchburg, four brothers, Glenn (Florence) of Xenia, Jerry (Sue) of Leesburg, Tom (Beverly) of Lynchburg, David (Lucy) of Wilmington, two sisters Joy (John) Fittro of Springfield and Ruby (Austin) Roush, one sister-in-law Darlene (Duke) O'Reilly of Vandalia, and one brother-in-law Jim Hamilton of Beavercreek and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carrie, two brothers, Bennie and Jim Cloud, one sister, June Marie Cloud, and a great-grandson, Mason Pack.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21st at the Allensburg Church of Christ. Bob Stevens will officiate. Burial will follow in the Barnes Cemetery.
