Slaughterville resident Mary Ida Hightower died Wednesday at her home. She was 105.
Mrs. Hightower was born July 8, 1893, in Kyana, Ind., to John William Parker and Catherine (Bath) Parker. She married Walter Lee Hightower on Oct. 29, 1916.
She moved with her family to the Stealey Ranch Community near Purcell when she was 10 and had also lived east of Lexington and in Oklahoma City.
She was a school teacher for a few years and was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, William E. Hightower, Lexington; Hubert A. Hightower, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Hazel Croy, Oklahoma City; Ellen Beeson, McLoud; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Catherine Parker; husband, Walter Lee Hightower; son, Wallace L. Hightower; daughter, Mary Catherine Ramsey; and two grandsons, Melvin Croy and Doyle Ramsey.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell with Rick Woods officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
