Oscar Lee Taylor Jr. was born to the late Oscar Lee Taylor Sr. and Florence Bonnie Taylor in Anderson. Oscar made a firm proclamation of his faith in Jesus Christ a few years ago and fought a valiant fight through an extended illness. He departed this life early Wednesday morning, Jan. 6.

He graduated from Anderson High School. After graduating, he served in the United States Air Force, as well as the Army National Guard. For 36 years he worked at the Delco Remy Division of General Motors as a pipefitter. For a number of years, he served as chaplain of the local unit of the American Legion. His interests were varied. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and attending live plays.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Beverly Sue Taylor, Alice Stoudemire and Stella Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Streaty-Taylor; four children, Jonita Johnson of Noblesville; Lillian Shirelle Taylor-Fuller; Oscar Dwight Taylor of Anderson; and William (Rhonda) Taylor, who serves in the military in Germany; two stepsons, Angelo Sudduth of Anderson and Ronald Messer Jr. (Diana) of Pasadena, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clark (Nancy) Taylor of Clayton; one sister, Letitia (Vedaste) Taylor-Karubaras; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Main Street Church of God, 4211 Main St., Anderson. The Rev. Dr. Edward L. Foggs, former Sherman Street pastor, will be the officiating eulogist. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Marion National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturaday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sherman Street Church of God (designated for Youth Ministry). Checks may be mailed to the Sherman Street Church Annex at 1820 Sherman St., Anderson, IN 46016 or may be left at the church on the day of the funeral. Arrangements entrusted to Glazebrooks Funeral Servcies.
