Beth Wells of Sterling City passed away on Tuesday Jan. 12, 2016.

Sara Beth Wells was born in Bryson, Texas, to Mary Elizabeth Hughes Blagg and Jesse James Blagg on Jan. 4, 1934. She attended Bryson schools and graduated Bryson High School in 1951.

On June 8, 1951, she married Richard Franklin "Pete" Wells of Proffitt, Texas. They made their home in Bryson and were blessed with three daughters.

Her husband preceded Beth in death on Sept. 10, 1959.

In 1966 Beth and the girls moved to Sterling City, Texas. She attended Jean's College of Beauty and opened Beth's Beauty Shop in her home in 1968. She closed her business in 2005. She served as coordinator of Sterling County Community Center for many years, retiring in 2010.

Beth was baptized into the Baptist Church in her early life, was a member of Eastern Star and active in her children's school and community activities. An avid dog lover she had many special pet companions though her life time.

Family and friends remember her as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She possessed a witty sense of humor and an independent spirit. She took great pleasure in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her husband; parents; sister Gwen Hamilton; niece Ann Lawson Hale; and nephew Kenny Lawson preceded her in death.

Survivors are her daughters, Bethany and Bill Blanek of San Angelo, Dusky Wells and Leroy Clark of San Angelo, and Jeannie and Speedy Sparks of Sterling City; grandchildren Joshua and Megan Blanek of San Angelo, Stacy and Jason Tucker of Pearland, Meghan and Kevin Williams of Canyon, and Jake Sparks of Sterling City; great-grandchildren Steeley and Emersyn Blanek and Kason Williams; sister Martha Lawson of Kyle; nieces Debra Walker and Vickie Lawson; nephews Ronnie Lawson and Mac Hamilton.
