Wayne Edmond "Legus" Marcum, 84 years of age, of Nancy, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, January 13st, 2016 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle care Center in Somerset, Kentucky surrounding by his family.

Wayne was born on November 11th, 1931, in De Land, Illinois, son of the late Arnold and Clara Lela Dalton Marcum. Wayne was retired from the State Highway Department. He enjoyed hunting and farming, and going ginseng digging. Wayne was a member of Delmer Church of the Nazarene.

Wayne was survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Marietta Epperson Marcum, whom he married in Georgia on May 1st, 1971; three sons, Terry Edmond Marcum of Florida, and Shannon Marcum and Kevin Marcum, both of Nancy, Kentucky; three daughters, Kathy Jo (and Charlie) Cope of Florence, Kentucky, Karen Sue (and Christopher) Serafini of Syracuse, New York, and Doris Ann Marcum of Cincinnati, Ohio; one step-daughter, Elaine Frye of Nancy, Kentucky; one step-son, Virthel (and Jennifer) Burton of Nancy, Kentucky; two brothers, Lewell Marcum of Somerset, Kentucky and Milford (and Mina) Marcum of Nancy, Kentucky; four sisters, Wanda (and James) Epperson of Nancy, Kentucky, and Sophia Bloomfield, Beulah Roberts, and Ann New, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren, Teri, Deidre, Hoss, Stacie, Derek, Peanut, Chelsi, Courtney, Kaleigh, J.W., Carrigan, Shaina, Valona, Corey, Kayla, Kiersten, and Codie; twelve great-grandchildren, Tyler, Makenzie, Alyssa, Mylie, Bayleigh, Kamdon, Aiyana, Niva, Raegin, Reiley, Chase, and Caiden; one great-great-grandson, Lucas; his best friend and neighbor, Larry Burton; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Marcum, who departed this life on September 15th, 1980 and Clara Marcum, who departed this life on April 23rd, 1985; two sons, Waymond B. Marcum and Jimmy Wayne Marcum; one daughter, Shirley Jean Marcum; one brother, Clifford Marcum; four sisters, Rosaline Marcum, Hattie Marcum VanHoosier, Doris Osborne, and Adele Bolton; and one granddaughter, Ashley Marcum.

Visitations were held on Friday, January 15th, 2016 after 5:00 p.m. at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 16th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Cooksey officiating.

Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
