Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell Scott, 79, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Byers Cemetery in the Center Grove community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M., and on Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at his residence. He was born August 27, 1936, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Dallas Scott and Roslie Scott. On December 13, 1991, he was married to Barbara Scott, who survives. He was a furniture factory worker, and a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ. He loved to rabbit hunt and coon hunt, watch westerns, and listen to bluegrass music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 Brothers: Elvis, Alvis, Fred, Buddy, Dallas, Jr., and Gary Scott; and 1 Step-Daughter: Freda Maxwell. Survivors include his Wife: Barbara Scott of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Daughters: Sherry (Walter) Arms of Carthage, TN, and Michelle (Ben) Leonard of the Gladdice community of Jackson County, TN; 1 Step-Son: Terry Loftis of Atlanta, GA; 1 Step-Daughter: Donna (Jeff) Mathis of Baxter, TN; 3 Grandchildren: Anna Brooke Leonard, Natalie Leonard, and Jada Arms; 5 Step-Grandchildren: Holly Chaffin, Trent Maxwell, Zachary (Ashley) Brazle, Justin Loftis, and Tyler (Lindsey) Loftis; 7 Step Great Grandchildren; 3 Sisters: Hazel Wall of Nashville, TN, Helen Vanoy of Elizabethtown, KY, and Katherine (Jimmy) Stafford of Cookeville, TN; and Buster the German Shepherd. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. Bro. Randy Bybee and Bro. Bill Coe will officiate at the services.
