Sarah Elizabeth Cook Hunt, 95, of Moriah Church Road, Casar, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby.

Born March 29, 1920 in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late John R. Cook and Delia Emma Hudson Cook. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wakefield Hunt, Sr.; two brothers, Frank and David Cooke; two sisters, Lela Ledford and Buna Mae Crawley; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Kathy Hunt; daughter-in-law, Dot Hunt and one granddaughter and one great grandson.

Survivors include four sons, Clyde Hunt of Morganton; Ophus Hunt and wife, Millie of Casar and J.W. Hunt, Jr. and wife, Mima of Polkville; two daughters, Ruth Bowman and husband, Pearlie and Shirley Nalley and husband, Wyman all of Casar; daughter-in-law, Connie Hunt of Shelby; brother, Roy Cooke of Shelby; eleven grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church in the sanctuary.

A funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church with Rev. David Miner officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
