Jimmy Doyle Thompson, age 71, of Florence passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016 A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016 at 6 p.m. at Spry~Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. with the entombment at a later date at Piney Grove cemetery. Mr. Thompson was of the Baptist faith, was a volunteer with Hospice of the Shoals and retired from Lauderdale County Waste management. He was also an avid Astronomer and Philosopher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Louella Thompson; siblings, Dave Thompson, Tim Thompson, Margie Cornelius, Angela Clemmons, Mattie Staggs; grandson, Stephen Thompson.
