She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Leonard Abate, parents; Jack Hood Sr. and Cora Hood, siblings; Hollis, Harsell, Jean, Ruth, and Betty Hood.
She is survived by her three siblings Nadine, Marie, and Jack Hood, Jr., as well as, her son Lawrence and his wife Melissa followed by her loving grandchildren Kallie and Garrett Abate.
Nellie loved life, dancing, traveling and most all of her grandchildren. She was an amazing mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was a dedicated stay at home mother and wife who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a blessing to know and be around throughout her time here on earth.
Special thanks given to those who provided her care over the years such as, Carrie Carr and Melissa Lambert. We thank you for your dedication to helping her in all ways possible and always going the extra mile to assist her in the beginning stages of her Dementia. Another special thanks to the Allenbrook Nursing Home, without the nurses there we would not have had the extra time to enjoy her. We so greatly appreciate the love and care that was provided to her during her stay. We also would like to thank Redeemer Lutheran Church for their doting time spent writing letters to her while being at Allenbrook. Our family is truly humbled and blessed at the care provided to her over the years.
In Lieu of flowers and plants, we greatly appreciate the consideration however, we would love for you to donate to research foundations toward the cure of Alzheimer's disease or donate to a local charity in her name. Please join our family in celebration of Nellie Hood Abates life at Earthman Funeral Home located at 3919 Garth Rd., Baytown, TX 77521 on January 16th from 2-4 pm.
