Obituary

Lawrence Edward Baer June 26, 1924 - December 21, 2008 SALEM - Lawrence Edward Baer, age 84, left his family and friends on December 21, 2008 after a tenacious battle with cancer. He was born in Salem, Oregon to Henry and Lillie Baer. He had one brother, James. During WWII he served as an Army Sergeant. In 1951, he married Rosalie Wacken. He worked for the Statesman Journal Newspaper as an Advertising Account Manager, publishing "The Baer Facts" weekly column. In 1976, he married Muriel Field in Honolulu, Hawaii where he worked as an Account Executive for an advertising agency for 11 years before returning to Salem. Lawrence had a great love for Hawaii, and had fond memories of his life spent there. His final wishes were to have his ashes returned to Hawaii to be with his deceased brother and wife. Lawrence enjoyed gardening and had very fond memories of all time spent with his neighbors, and friends. He was active in his neighborhood association, and acted as the president for many years. Lawrence is survived by two sons and their families, Mark and Kathy Baer, their children Andi and Rob Limont, Shauna Wade both of Salem, Brenton and Jayme Baer and great-grandson, Jaeger of Oahu, Hawaii. Matt and Lynda Baer and their children Ashley and Kim of Salem, and step-son, Charles Field and his wife Lynette and their family. A memorial service will be scheduled later in March of 2009 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Salem Oregon.
