Elizabeth A. ("Betsy") Mayfield was born in 1796 in Pendleton District, South Carolina, a daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth (Anderson?) Mayfield. Her father was born in Amherst Co, VA and moved to Montgomery Co, VA about 1784 which is where he enlisted as a soldier in the Revolutionary War. The family moved to Pendleton District, SC after the war, then to Jefferson Co, KY about 1802.
Elizabeth was married on August 10th, 1816 in Jefferson Co, Kentucky to John Webb, soon settling in Hickman (the part which later became Lewis) County, Tennessee. They were the parents of 13 children. They came to Effingham County, Illinois about 1853 where John died in 1860. Elizabeth died in 1874.
