Mayes was a brother of Mrs Joe Cross of Fort Worth.
He was a native of Young County and had lived here 32 years.
Services will be held in the Chruch of Christ Saturday at 3 p.m. with William O. Hall, Olney minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Megargel cemetery.
Besides the Fort Worth sister Mayes is survived by his wife, one son, J. W. Mayes of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Mrs. A. L. Brumley of Big Lake; brother, Joe Mayes of Abilene, and another sister Mrs. Will Walsh of Olney. There are seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
