James (Jim) Kent MacLean died peacefully on January 3rd, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center after battling leukemia.

Jim was born on Halloween, 1939, in Chemung County, New York, in the Village of Horseheads to Charles D MacLean and Neva MacLean (Rahlstein). He was later adopted by his stepmother, Mildred MacLean (Marx). Jim moved to Oshkosh when he was in elementary school from Menomonie Falls and lived here all his life, with the exception of a few months in Naples, FL, and his years in the service.

Jim was a man of many talents. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961 and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. There he served as a medic and performed with the Army Glee Club. Over the years he could also be found working the graveyard shift at Morgan Door Company, measuring your foot at Rothenbach Shoes or selling you a lawnmower at Kitz and Pfeil. But his most important job was working as an X-Ray Technician at Mercy Medical Center because that's where he met his future wife, Trina Baier, whom he married in 1966.

His true joy in life was music. He was a self-taught piano player who loved being an entertainer. Over the years he could be found crooning at many local spots throughout Oshkosh and the Fox Valley, including the Winemaker, Cannova's and the Treasury. His musical talents provided joy to many including the Dine Out Club at Evergreen Manor, the Art Lab at the Senior Center and patients and staff at Mercy Medical Center and Aurora Hospital.

He was also an inspiring inventor and entrepreneur. If he - or someone he knew - needed something he was usually able to make it himself. He spent many summers with his kids at the Montello Flea Market with his lemonade stand, fudge wagon, and hot dog stand, each year making a new and better stand for his wares.

He was proceeded in death by his father, his mother, his stepmother, and his brother, Craig MacLean. Jim is survived by his wife Trina MacLean; daughter Jennifer MacLean and son-in-law Aaron Lee of Pasadena, CA; daughter Katie MacLean and son-in-law Shawn Parks of St. Louis, MO; granddaughters Claudia and Lucia Lee of Pasadena, CA; nephew Kyle MacLean of Oakland, CA and niece Kim MacLean of Texas.

We would like to thank Dr. Karen Greminger, Dr. Davis, Dr. Klinkhammer and all the staff at Fox Valley Hematology. We would also like to thank the staff of the ER and Units One and Two at Mercy Medical Center for assisting him in his journey to the big piano in the sky. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Funeral services for Jim will be held in The Poklasny Funeral Home (870 W South Park) on Friday January 15, at 6:00 PM. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM until the hour of services.
