He was born in Athertonville, Ky. on December 20, 1911 to the late Ann Washer Mather and Frank Allen Mather and was raised in New Haven, Ky.
He was a 1935 graduate of the University of Louisville Dental School, and practiced dentistry in Louisville for 63 years. He was a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsulon Honor Fraternity and a lifetime member of the American Dental Association.
He was also an avid gardener and grew wonderful vegetables up until he was 101 years old. He loved to tinker and invent. He designed and built a portable loom for Lou Tate of the Little Loom House in the 1940s. This portable loom is still in use today.
He is predeceased by his wife Kitty and grandson, Stephen.
