SHREVEPORT, La — Rebecca Landoll Whitaker, 45, of Shreveport, La., died unexpectedly on Jan. 5, 2016, in Willis-Knighton Pierremont Health in Shreveport of heart failure complications.

Born Oct. 6, 1970, in Norwalk, Becky graduated from Edison High School in 1989. Her spirit of adventure led her first to Florida, where she lived in Ft. Lauderdale, before meeting her husband, Lucian Cary III “Cary,” and moving to Louisiana.

Becky centered her energies on the growth and development of sons Lucian “Luke,” 9, and Logan, 7.

As the fifth child in a line of seven siblings, she is remembered by her brothers and sisters as a vivacious, feisty, woman whose priority was involvement with family. At family homecomings, she enjoyed showing her sons the River Road family farm, where as a child she spent many carefree days exploring the farm, picking mulberries and conversing around the firepot.

In Shreveport, she dedicated herself to volunteering at her sons’ school and created a nurturing, loving home. She happily spent countless hours in patient playtime with her boys, telling them stories, creating artwork or cooking together.

True to her giving nature, Becky was an organ donor, recognizing an opportunity to help others.

In addition to her husband of nine years, Cary, and their two sons, Luke and Logan, she is survived by her parents, John and Virginia Landoll of Milan; siblings, John Landoll of Tampa, Fla.; Patrick and Laura Landoll of Cincinnati; Anita and Carl Dalessandro of Cincinnati and their children Bon and Elizabeth; Rachel and Jim Kanable of Findlay, Ohio, and their children Jacob, Kaitlin, Corrine and Austin; Gretchen and Scott Yeager of Chicago and their children Karley, Blake, Hannah Nicholson, Zachary Nicholson and Garrett Nicholson; and Adam and Laura Landoll of Denver, Colo., and their children Emma and Samuel; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Wendy and Dave Barmore and their son Mack McClure; Candace Whitaker; Carter Whitaker; Craig and Lisa Whitaker and their children Dylan and Dawson; Bailey Whitaker and his children Sebastian, Hunter and Cameron; Courtney and Lee Jensen and their son Jag Lee, all of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elizabeth Ortman Whitaker and Lucian Cary Whitaker II of Florida.

Celebration of Life service will be 12:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall in Milan, with luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Fifth Third Bank, For the Benefit of Luke and Logan Whitaker, Account No. 7977821045, 225 Aptakisic Road, Lincolnshire, IL 60069.
