Author. Born in Richmond, Virgina, he was a populat writer noted for his fantasy and science fiction novels, plus collections of short stories, essays and poetry. His best known book "Jurgen, A Comedy of Justice" (1919), was about an eponymous hero who travels to heaven, hell and beyond. Over the course of his career, he published over fifty books to include "Chivalry" (1909), "The Soul of Melicent" (1913), "The Cream of the Jest" (1917), "The High Place" (1923) and the eighteen-volume collection "Biography of the Life of Manuel" (1927–1930). He died at age 79 in Richmond, Virgina.
