Steven Eugene Hess, Sr., 64, of Greensburg, passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
He was born on January 4, 1952 in Seymour, the son of William Robert and Elizabeth June (Bruner) Hess. He was raised in Greensburg. He was a truck driver for Wicks Lumber Company in Columbus. Steve had worked for Valley Services in Batesville, Rumpke of Fairland and Parrish Lumber Company in Shelbyville. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #927 in Greensburg. He enjoyed fishing, driving, collecting model cars and making crafts.
He is survived by his companion, Sharon Rupp of Greensburg; his son, Steven Eugene (Molly) Hess, Jr. of Greensburg; his sisters, Kay Gray, Jo Sons, Patty Sons and Debbie Sons, all of Seymour; his brothers, Mike Sons and Tom Sons, both of Seymour; his 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Allan Dale Sons.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Jonathon Dickson officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from noon until time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
