Funeral services for Chester C. Bowling, 76, of Aurora, were at 2 P.M. today in the Crafton-Cantrell Chapel, with Rev. Al Sulzner officiating. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery.
Mr. Bowling died at 8:25 A.M. Friday in St. John's Regional Health Care Center in Springfield after a sudden illness.
He was born April 5, 1914, in Stone County. He lived all his life in this area where he worked as a carpenter and farmer. He was a member of the Elm Branch Christian Church.
He married Clala M. Durham, April 22, 1933. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Charles Gene Bowling of Aurora, R. A. Bowling and Raymond Bowling, both of Crane; one daughter, Linda Barton of Aurora; four brothers, Claude Bowling, of Galena, Ivan Bowling, Ish Bowling and Dean Bowling, all of Aurora; three sisters, Sylvia Essary of Galena, Thelma Gilmore of Verona and Nadine Loyd of Aurora; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Odis Bowling; and one sister, Sadie Jenkins.
