GOWANDA - Dolores R. West, a longtime resident of Johnson Street, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 9, 2016 in Elizabethtown, Pa. Dee moved to New Providence, Pa., after the passing of her husband, Richard, where she lived next to he daughter, Nancy, and her daughter's husband, Darrell Welk. Dolores was born in Buffalo, N.Y., October 7, 1928, the daughter of Louis and Agnes (Miller) Wetzel. On May 20, 1950, she married Richard E. West at St. Michael's R.C. Church in Buffalo. Richard passed away in 2008; they were married nearly 60 years. A homemaker, Dolores is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Darrell) Welk of New Providence, Pa., Linda (Stanley) Zukowski of Cheektowaga and Darcy (David) Lanton of Titusville, Fla. Dolores is also survived by grandchildren, Darcy, Yvonne, Cecily, Ben, Bella and Kelly; several great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews also survive.Besides her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in death by a son, Richard A. West and a granddaughter, Cassie Lanton along with two sisters, Virginia Petrik and Charlene Cleaver. As per Dee's request, there will be no prior visitation. Arrangements are by the Schindler Funeral Home, 44 Center St., Gowanda, (716) 532-4200.
