JOHN CHEW DEAD.
Well-Known Old Man Found Dead in Bed at a Hotel.

John Chew was found dead in bed at Smith's Hotel, 350 East Washington Street, yesterday afternoon. He was seventy-one years old and lived on his farm in Perry township, where he was a well-known and wealthy man. He seemed to be feeling well yesterday before his death, and talked to the driver of one of his milk wagons which delivered him milk every day. He had spent some time in St. Vincent's Hospital, where he was being treated for nervous diseases by Dr. Morrison. He was born in Xenia, O., and settled in this county in 1841, after having lived a short time in Hamilton county. He was the father of eleven children, five of whom live in Atlanta, Ga. The others live on his farms near Southport. His wife died about six years ago. He was a Mason. His funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at the M.E. church in Greenwood, of which he was a member. Deputy Coroner Dunlavy held an autopsy this morning at Charles T. Whitsett's morgue.
