Bobby Ray Pennington passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 10th at the age of 85 after a long bout with advanced dementia.
He grew up in West Texas, and moved to Tucson 1953.
Surviving him are his wife of 64 years, Sue, son Randy (Suzanne), daughter Shellie (Tom), brother, Clayton ( Merrell), grandchildren, Chelsea (Zane), Brock, Shea, Keith (Lindsay), and great grandchildren, Jaxon, Jace and Zoe.
Bobby was a kind, gentle man who loved his family. He always put them first in his life and was very proud of each of them. He also cared deeply about the needs of others and on boards of over 40 civic and charitable organizations in the Tucson area over the years. He was honored as Tucson's 1989 "Man of the Year".
He started a career in banking in 1953 which spanned 39 years, graduating from SMU's Graduate School of Banking in 1962.
After retiring, he enjoyed golfing with friends and traveling with his wife and other close friends, seeing much of the world and our United States.
Though our hearts are hurting and we will miss him greatly, we cherish the many years we had together and take comfort in knowing he has eternal peace.
Celebration of his life will be held at 12:30 P.M. Sunday January 17th at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
