2009 obituary. SOUTH PORTLAND -- Ida Edith Robbins, 83, of South Portland, died Thursday July 16, 2009, at a Portland hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Portland, the daughter of Bartolomew and Colomba Farina Aceto. Ida attended Portland schools and Portland High School. She married William D. Robbins Jr. in Portland on Jan. 3, 1949; he predeceased her in 1988. During the early 1950s Ida worked for Valle's Steak House. In the 1960s, she was employed with Fairchild's and her last position was with Hannaford's retiring in the 1980s due to ill health. She will best be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ida was a communicant of Holy Cross Church, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No.197 of Westbrook. She enjoyed cooking, especially homemade pasta for her family, crossword puzzles, and game shows. Ida was also a sports fan who enjoyed the Red Sox, Patriots and NASCAR Racing. She was predeceased by two sisters, Anna Wilmot and Adeline Hatch, and three brothers, Anthony Aceto, Daniel Aceto and John Aceto. Visiting hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Tuesday an 11 a.m. funeral service will be held at the Chapel. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
