Carroll Gene Bankston, 82, passed away at 3:34 pm onWednesday Jan. 6, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Lilbourn, Missouri as an only child to Arthur and Virginia (Blankinship) Bankston, who are both deceased. He married Betty J. Holding on Jan. 5 1951, and she passed away Dec. 27, 2013.

Surviving are: one son, Curt Bankston (Vicki), two daughters: Pam Clark (Denny) and Marcia Woolley (David Boring). He is also survived by grandchildren Jami Rockenbaugh Edwards, Betsy Rockenbaugh Curtis, Murphy Clark, Cassidy Clark, Rana Rockenbaugh Sturgill; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and a special friend Pat Wolfe.

Carroll was in the Naval reserves. He earned a business-finance degree and was the owner and operator of Bankston Auto Sales for many years. After retirement he worked at Marco Shores Golf Course in Florida during the winter months and was an avid golfer as well. He was a member of the Peru Maennerchor and enjoyed playing cards with his friends there on Thursday nights. While raising his family, he liked to go boating and camping in his RV and enjoyed motorcycling on his BMW.

Mr. Bankston was a 50-year member of Peru Miami Masonic Lodge #67.

Please join us in celebrating and recalling memories and accomplishments that Carroll achieved. Friends may call from 9 a.m. - Noon on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016. Service will at noon Monday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be also be conducted at Noon Monday. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru with Pastor Lauren Hall officiating.
