Carrie “Peggy” Reed, 88, went home to be with her Lord Friday, January 8, 2016 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

Having lived in Fairview, she was the daughter of the late W.A. “Andy” and Eva Henderson Wright. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Reed; brothers and sisters and their spouses: Katherine and Wayne Alexander, Lehman and Virginia Wright, Roland and Loretta Wright, Martha and Bill Dycus, Mildred and Dwight Freeman, Joe Wright, Jack Wright, Bob Wright; and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Reed.

She was a member of South Asheville Baptist Church where she was referred to as “Granny” by some and “Mamaw Peggy” by others. She was a very giving person that cared for many. She was loved by everyone that knew her.

She is survived by two sons: Rev. Robert Norris Wright and wife Charlotte, and Donald Reed; two sister-in-laws: Catherine Wright and Helen Wright; two granddaughters: Beth Grooms and husband Leroy, and Chrissy Van Dover and husband Mike; three great-grandsons: Brent Grooms and wife Brittany, Seth and Ethan Grooms; special niece Gail and Bob LaBerge, and nephew Dwight and Traci Wright; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at South Asheville Baptist Church, 32 Le-An-Hurst Road, with the Rev. Norris Wright, Terry Wright, and Dale Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Cane Creek Cemetery. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting the family.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm Tuesday at the church.

Pallbearers are: Gene Merrill, Brent Grooms, Ralph Gillis, Scott Rice, Tony Turner, and Ronnie Wright. Honorary Pallbearers are: Jay Huntley, Bill Dycus, Seth Grooms, and Ethan Grooms.

The family would like to express their gratitude to two special nurses: Tammy Kent and Daren Hill in the Pulmonary Step Down Unit and a special thanks to Dr. Troxler and Dr. Sharpe. Very special thanks to the congregation of South Asheville Baptist Church for their prayers and their love for Mamaw Peggy and our family.
