Bonnie Louise (Smith) Shoemaker, 92, formerly of the Newtown Community and had been residing in Covington, passed away in the Waters of Covington, on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 11:55 a.m.

Bonnie was born in Attica, Indiana, on April 3, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Everett and Hazel (Hedrick) Smith. She was raised in Attica, and attended Rob Roy and Attica High School. She lived in Newtown from 1952 -1995. In 1995 she moved to Covington.

She had worked at Radio Materials Corp. in Attica and later at Brown Rubber in Lafayette. She also served as a cook in various restaurants in Attica.

She was raised in the Baptist Church.

On December 21, 1935, Bonnie married Max P. Shoemaker in Veedersburg. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1994.
She leaves behind two grandchildren, Carla Ruth (John) Parish and Eric Robert Baxter, both of Covington; two great-grandchildren, Morgan (Chad) Day and Jeremy Robert Baxter, both of Covington; three great great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Harper Lee and Stella Day; a sister, Patricia (Richard) Matson, Athens, MI. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Lee Baxter and a son, Max Shoemaker, Jr.

Due to the weather, graveside services will be held at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, January 12th, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Divan officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
