He was born in Washburn, WV on August 24, 1947, the son of the late Troy and Hazel (Horner) Nutt.
On June 18, 1982 he married Opal (Halterman) Nutt who survives in Petersburg.
Mr. Nutt was a graduate of Harrisville High School.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #78 where he served as the Post Adjutant and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Nutt was an Independent X-Ray Contractor for 40 years and he was a Veteran of the US Air Force.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Nutt is survived by: 2 sons, Daniel Nutt and wife Jennifer of Ponte Verdra Beach, FL, George A. Nutt of Fairmont, WV; 2 step sons, Virgil "Bub" Yokum of Seneca Rocks, WV, Jody Yokum of Seneca Rocks; 3 step daughters, Liz Huffman and husband Dan of Seneca Rocks, Tammy Pyles and husband (Don) of Maysville, WV, Lynne Redman and husband David of Moorefield, WV; a sister, Ernestine Powers of Chester, WV; a brother, Clifford Nutt and wife Norma of MacFarland, WV; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 2 brothers, William and Dale Nutt; and 6 sisters, Zella Shaw, Edna Santee, Doris Eddy, Lulu Parks, Judy Gates, and Monnie Brown.
Mr. Nutt's family will receive friends on Monday, January 11, 2016, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg, WV with Military Graveside Services conducted by The Grant County Veterans Honor Guard.
