J.F. Whitney prominent Garfield citizen passed away at his home last Saturday. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon burial followed in Reddick cemetery. He is survived by his wife and 2 sons [Benton County Record and Democrat Sunday 6/13/29] [Rogers Daily News 6/10/29]. Jesse Franklin Whitney was born in Randolph County, North Carolina May 28, 1821 and departed from this life June 8, 1929 at Garfield. In the spring of 1869 he with his father moved to Douglas County, Kansas. Then in 1875, he moved to Cowley County, Kansas. In the year 1876, he moved to Benton County, Arkansas where he lived the remainder of his life. He was married to Miss Addie Wilson in 1887 and to this union were born eight children. He professed a hope in Christ April 5, 1914 and united with the Church of Christ at Garfield. [Rogers Democrat 6/13/29]
