Roy Hanson, 85, of Lancaster, Minnesota passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Thursday, January 7, 2016. Roy Ellsworth Hanson was born to Henning and Della (Burnell) Hanson on the family farm in Caribou Township of Kittson County October 8, 1930. Roy attended South Caribou country school and worked for several area farms before entering the U.S. Marines. On his return home he began working at Keine Farms in Kennedy, Minnesota and became a foreman there. Roy also worked at Midland Co-op in Hallock and drove school bus for the Lancaster School District. Upon retiring, Roy moved to Lancaster and kept busy mowing lawns in town. He was a former member of the Kennedy VFW.

Family members include a sister, Kristine Larter, Warren, MN; and brothers, Lester (Deanna) Hanson and Dean Hanson, both living in California; as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hillis, Donald and Douglas; and an infant sister, Katherine.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, January 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy, MN. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Lancaster. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presiding; Galen Nordin, soloist and Patti Swanson, organist. Honorary casket bearers will be all those in attendance.
