Mr. Carwile was born in Calhoun Falls, Dec. 19, 1928, a son of the late Addison Brooks Carwile, Sr., and Alice Callaham Carwile.
He was a 1949 graduate of Clemson University and a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve. Mr. Carwile was owner and former manager of the John Carwile Personnel Consultants, Inc. in Union, where he staffed textile companies throughout the United States. He was also formerly employed with Milliken and Co., Excelsior Plant and Cone Mill, Carlisle Plant. Mr. Carwile was a member of the First Baptist Church where he previously served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the BPO Elks Lodge # 1321 and was a past president of the Union Jaycees. Mr. Carwile was a devoted and loving husband, father and grand father.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Gail Carwile Hamrick and husband Wardlaw of Gaffney and Allison Carwile Wilson and husband Phil of Spartanburg; two sons, Steven Wallace Carwile and wife Ann of Seneca and Preston Brooks Carwile of Union; four sisters, Frances C. Arrington and husband Bob of Clemson, Dot C. Woodhurst and husband Stan of Augusta, Ga., Mary Leila C. Andrews and husband Bob of Wilmington, N.C., and Beth C. McLeod and husband Gene of Wake Forest, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Marianne Carwile Bartrum of Spartanburg; 10 grandchildren, Catherine H. Hampton and husband Kevin, Cameron Hamrick, Addison Hamrick, Jonathan Carwile, S. Preston Carwile, Paige Carwile, Caroline Carwile, Preston B. Carwile, McKenzie Wilson and Branch Wilson; one great-grandchild, Patrick Hampton. Mr. Carwile was predeceased by a brother, Addison Carwile Jr.
Burial was at the Long Cane Cemetery in Abbeville.
