Iris Parsons Young, age 84, of Christiana died January 9, 2016. Mrs. Young was a native of Christiana and daughter of the late Hoyt and Kathleen Fingar Parsons. She was also preceded in death by her husband Harry D. Young who died in 1994.
Mrs. Young is survived by two daughters, Melody Young of Murfreesboro and Stephanie Grinderslev and her husband Steve of Murfreesboro; one brother, Myers Parsons and his wife Ann Nora; grandchildren, Christopher Carter, Matthew McCloud, and Landon Grinderslev; and one great-grandchild, Noah Carter.
Graveside services will be at 12:30pm Tuesday at Miller Cemetery in Christiana. Rev. Marshall Gupton will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00am until 12:00noon Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Young was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a lifelong member and elder of Christiana Presbyterian Church and was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Christiana High School and received her B.S. degree from MTSU. She was a Rutherford County teacher for 25 years before her retirement.
