DEXTER - A funeral for George E. Cox, 69, of Des Moines was held June 11, 1988 at McKee Funeral Home here. Mr. Cox died of a heart attack at his home on June 7. Burial was in the Dexter Cemetery.

The son of Ira and Hannah Cox, he was born Dec. 27, 1918. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from the U.S. Postal Service six years ago after 10 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Stella; a daughter, Joann Jobe of Des Moines; his mother, Hannah Cox of Indianola; two sisters, Christine Mitchell of Council Bluffs and Ramona Tuttle of Elma; and one granddaughter.
