Lance A. Carter, 20, of San Antonio, Texas, died of a gunshot wound there Tuesday. The death is under investigation as a homicide. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church in Stuart, with burial at Dexter Cemetery.

Mr. Carter was born in Greenfield and had lived in Stuart for several years, moving to Arizona in 1981 and then to San Antonio a year ago. He was a framer at a construction company.

He is survived by his parents, Lyle and Kathy Carter of Gilbert, Ariz.; a sister, Kristi Lanning of Mesa, Ariz.; his grandparents, Floyd and Goldie Carter of Dexter, Joe Nevins of Stuart and Marilyn Nevins of Des Moines; and his great-grandmother, Daisy Carter of Stuart.

Friends may call after noon today at Link Funeral Home in Stuart, where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m.
