Dec. 25, 2015

John left us to be with God on Christmas day, Dec. 25, 2015. He was surrounded by family and their prayers. He was born to Benjamin Harrison and Esther Christine Clapp in Horace, Neb.. He was the fifth of six children. His family moved to Mossyrock, Wash. when he was sixteen years old where he graduated from Mossyrock High School. John joined the U.S. Navy in 1944, and served in the Asiatic Pacific area during World War II. After the war, he settled in Portland. He married Vera Arlean Blum in 1952, and started a family. John and Vera had four children, Benjamin John Clapp, Steven Tracy Clapp, Kevin Neal Clapp and Sandra Lee Marx. John worked for and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. At the postal service John served as a letter carrier for 20 years and 10 years as a delivery manager. After retiring, he spent much of his time operating the rental property business he had built. John was always very proud of the family home on the Clackamas River in Gladstone. He was most proud of his family.
