Kathryn (Daib) Cross, 86, of St. Louis, Missouri formerly of Dexter, Iowa passed away June 16, 2010 at the St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis.

Kathryn (Kay) D. Cross, 86, of St. Louis, Mo. flew into the loving arms of her Lord, June 16th, 2010 after a short illness, with her family at her side.

She was born Kathryn Eleanor Anna Daib on January 26th, 1924 in Dexter, Iowa where her father, Rev. Kurt Daib was pastor of Zion Lutheran Church. Her mother was Ida Bergmann Daib. It was there that she was baptized, confirmed, graduated from high school and later married James C. Cross.

Their ministry to God and his people took them to Illinois, Washington, Texas and Missouri. She was a proud graduate of Iowa State. She loved her Lord, her family, her church, KMOX radio and her Cardinals!
She joyfully sacrificed much to raise 3 adopted children, helped them grow and blossom into loving, giving adults with children of their own.

She served her Lord faithfully behind the scenes, ministering to others in her own quiet, loving way. She was active in Sunday School, Bible Class, choir, Cub Scouts, working in the church office, Various fellowship and service groups and in later years, hosted the ladies in her home to make quilts and school bags sent through the church to those in need.

She loved to travel and always said "Yes!" before she asked "Where are we going?"

She loved feeding her birds and kept her binoculars and bird book on the kitchen window sill. She loved flowers and working in her yard.

She worked on St. Louis County Bookmobiles until age 72, enjoying the children and trying to encourage in them a love for reading. She herself was an avid reader and was always eager to learn something new.
She was a treasured friend to so many, a "Charter Member" of Webster Gardens Lutheran Church in Webster Groves, Mo, a beloved mother to Susan (Pat), Daniel (Jennifer), David (Mary), grandmother to Andrew, Joshua and Nicole and great-grandmother to Isaiah. She was a sister to Lenn (Shirley), Margaret (Jimmy) and the late Christine. Aunt to Dean, Debbie, the late Kurt, Mike, Christopher, Ann, Jeff and Bill, great aunt and great-great aunt to many.
