GLADYS E. SCAR

Gladys Elizabeth Carolina Scar, the daughter of William Scar and Mina Kathrena, nee Wedemeyer, was born in Madison county, Iowa, on May 22, 1910. She was baptized in Zion Lutheran church, Dexter, on June 19, 1910 and confirmed on June 29, 1924.

In 1945 she moved with her parents to Dexter. For many years she served as Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Ladies' Aid and several civic organizations.

After a lingering illness she passed away at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines on Sunday, January 2, at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 11 days. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a sister, Norine (Mrs. Ewald Nath) of Wichita, Kansas, one brother, the Reverend William Scar of West Newton, Mass., three nephews and two nieces.

Funeral services under the direction of the Evans Funeral Home were conducted on Thursday, January 6 at Zion Lutheran church, with the Rev. Norman Luecht officiating. Burial was in the Dexter cemetery.

Casket bearers were her cousins, Alvin Scar, Leonard Scar, Norman Scar, Paul Willrich, Carl Jobst, and Lewis Schaefer.
